Elizna Botha Bridal- and evening wear

I design and craft wedding- and evening dresses for special occasions. I like to work with my clients’ ideas for their special garments and perfecting it by choosing the best colour to suit their skin tones and identifying the type of fabric that will bring the design of the dress to life.

I also believe that it is of the utmost importance that the style of the garment suits the unique body of the person who will be wearing it out in the great, big world.

My passion for clothing and fabrics started when I was in high school. I had tried out all the subjects that my school had to offer (to my parents’ great frustration), and finally ended up in choosing needlework as my focus in Grade 11. I enjoyed making clothes and being creative so much I had let go of my childhood dream of becoming a veterinarian (although I still adore animals), and decided to pursue my new dream of working in the clothing industry.

I matriculated from Paarl Gymnasium High School in 2002, after which I went to study Clothing Management at Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT), formerly known as the Cape Technicon. Here I was awarded my National Diploma.
Whilst studying, I started making clothes for friends for special events. After I finished my studies I worked in the clothing industry for a few years, until I started my own business, specializing in Bridal and Evening wear, in 2010.

My work enables me to meet great people. Designing and creating a person’s dream garment, whether it is a wedding frock or a matric farewell dress, stokes a burning passion in my chest that I find difficult to put into words. Making a dress is a process and I love all the stages from designing the dress up until the finished garment.

I got married in 2011, and established my business in Paarl. I designed and made my own wedding dress, which ended up being the most difficult dress I ever had to make. I had so many ideas and designs that I loved, which meant designing the final dress was a real challenge and one that I am proud of completing.

One of the matric farewell dresses I designed and crafted was one of the top 10 Finalists of the Sarie Matric Dress competition 2011. Yet another took third price in the Jip Burger competition in 2013.
